Brown's hiring in Chicago may very well be proof of how judging a person's credentials for a job off the publicity of a single incident that propelled them in to the spotlight is not a good way to pick a superintendent. Brown's failure to look at open source intelligence and understand the size and intensity of the George Floyd protests that were sweeping the nation was a huge mistake. Unfortunately for Mayor Lightfoot and the residents of Chicago his mixture of data manipulation and finger pointing has not had a really substantive impact on the violence Chicago as well as countless other cities throughout America has experienced during the pandemic.
