There are 40 to 50 lightning strikes in the world every second. Thankfully, 90% of the victims survive though they may live with lingering health issues. Although the fear of being struck is common, the actual occurrence is far less. Statistically speaking, you have nothing to worry about, but if you reside in the Southeastern United States where strikes are more frequent, you should be bothered. WIthout any further ado, let’s look at the fifteen people who got struck by lightning!
15. Austin Melton
14-year-old Austin Melton is lucky to have been hit by thunderbolt only once. He was playing a basketball game in school when a storm started. He moved outside to see what was going on, just to be hit by lightning. He was unconscious, and the next time he opened his eyes, he was lying on a hospital bed. He had burns on his head, ankle, and chest. One of his eardrums was perforated, and because of the event, he was nicknamed Sparky.

14. Melvin Roberts
The odds of getting struck by lightning in a year is one in 700,000. But one unlucky man has been hit six times or more, as he claims. If you live in an area with frequent lightning strikes, the chances are that one or two persons may be victims within a year. Even at that, we don't know why Melvin Roberts was hit six times. The man lived in Seneca and was struck on a sunny day while mowing his neighbor's grass. Lightning travels several miles before touching the ground or any human around the vicinity. It doesn't also matter when because you can fall victim even on sunny days. Roberts is a local celebrity in his medical community because he has been admitted to the hospital severally for the same reason. He still suffers from memory loss, nerve damage, and speech problems.

13. Roy Sullivan
If you think it is weird to be struck by thunderlight six times, think about Roy Sullivan, who has been hit seven times. He was a U.S. park ranger in Shenandoah National park in Virginia. Between 1942 to 1977, he managed to survive seven strikes, of which all of them were documented. He was inside a ranger station when he was hit, and for the fifth and sixth one, he could swear that the clouds were following him. The last one came for him while he was fishing. After the bolt hit him, a bear gushed out of the woods to steal the fish he had caught. It looks like this animal prayed fervently for this to happen.

12. Sophie Frost and Mason Billington
Sophie Frost would forever be grateful to her grandmother for buying her an iPod. The 14-year-old was strolling with Mason, her boyfriend when a lightning bolt hit them. Mason suffered injuries in his eyes while Sophie was lucky to be burned on one part of her body because the electricity passed through her iPod's wires. Doctors say she survived because the current was diverted away from her heart and other vital organs. Both teenagers recovered and are back on their feet.

11. Alice Svenson
Little Alice was showering in Gothenburg's bathroom when a thunderlight traveled through the pipes and hit her. She had just had dinner and went downstairs when her parents heard her scream. The 12-year-old's parents were unaware of what happened the first time. Her mother began to help her wash her hair when she yelled again. It was at this point that her mum understood what happened. This time, the lightning zapped through the shower pipes. Her mum had learned not to shower during electrical storms, but this one didn't notify them.
