Press Conference In Support of January 6th Defendants Abruptly Ended as Protesters Disrupt in DC

Fair Warning: A Lot of Whistles in this one
A press conference in support of the January 6th defendants was abruptly ended on Tuesday, as protesters drowned out speakers and moved in behind the podium in DC. The event, held by Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz, Paul Gosar, Bob Good, Louie Gohmert and Andy Biggs, was held to call for transparency in the treatment of the jailed defendants.

A man blew a referee whistle throughout the speeches, and the presser was rapidly ended during Marjorie Taylor Greene’s speech as protesters moved closer to the podium and staff ushered the Representatives away. Most left hurriedly after being followed to their vehicles, with Rep. Louie Gohmert returning briefly to speak to press before being drowned out by a brass band that pulled up on a flatbed next to the event.

The “Critical Condition Band” played as a few brief clashes ensued, with one protester stealing a Trump supporter’s flag, then punching her after she had retrieved it (this moment is captured briefly in my video from 7:20, for a better angle of that specific moment you can also view https://youtu.be/YhZeFRpDMIg at the 23:15 mark). The band quickly condemned this, calling for a peaceful demonstration. Protesters also brought an effigy of Donald Trump and various signs to the event, and the band continued playing until after the majority of the crowd and press had dispersed.
