We two friends, Ruth Hartunian-Alumbaugh and Kathleen Thompson, decided to celebrate Christmas on the 25th of every month to have something to look forward to since we didn’t get to celebrate Christmas the way we would have liked! And, because we’re musicians, we’re doing it with seasonal music, paired with the song, We Need a Little Christmas, to share the joy of the season with you for the whole year.
August’s song,Summertime, is from the Broadway show Porgy and Bess. Written by George Gershwin in 1934, this is the most covered song in the world, with more than 25,000 versions. And now there are 25,001.
