OUR POSITIVE BIRTH STORY // The arrival of our baby boy

OUR POSITIVE BIRTH STORY // The arrival of our baby boy

Hello Everyone,

Happy Sunday!

We debated long and and hard about uploading our birth story, but we decided to go ahead, in the hope that it sheds a positive light on labour.

It certainly wasn’t pain free, but it was an experience we both prepared for using hypnobirthing techniques, which kept us calm and focused on the task in hand. If anyone is thinking about doing hypnobirthing, there is a great course online: www.birth-ed.co.uk

We also wanted a water birth but Rupert had other ideas, so we quickly had to adjust our mindset and go with the flow of a normal labour on the delivery ward, with the help of some gas and air!

With irregular and manageable contractions lasting quite a few hours at home, labour moved quickly at the hospital, and within 5 hours our baby boy was born!

Giving birth is such an empowering experience, we hope parents-to-be will watch this and look forward to welcoming their little ones into the world.

Following Rupert's arrival, we spent four days on the high dependency ward to help him establish breastfeeding and keep an eye on his breathing.

After what felt like four years, we were finally discharged and were able to take Roo home!

It was an emotional week and we are still getting using to being first time parents, but as each day passes, we are getting more and more used to having Roo in our lives.
