A major controversy erupts after the Tamil Nadu government forms the 3 member panel of retired judges to oversee the process of melting gold and silver ornaments that are given in temples as offerings by the devotees. This happened when the fight to free up the temple from government control is already going on in the state. The Stalin government however has said that the process of melting jewelry and converting them into gold bars will be fair and transparent. The minister has said that the melted gold will be used for the interest of the temples.
