S. Korea's President vows to do best to ensure fair, swift vaccine distribution at the ASEAN+3 Summit

President Moon Jae-in took part in a virtual meeting with ASEAN members, China and Japan.
During the session he stressed South Korea will do its best to ensure fair and swfit distribution of COVID-19 vaccine.

President Moon Jae-in on Wednesday stressed that South Korea will do its best to ensure a fair and swift distribution of COVID-19 vaccines to other countries.
He made the speech at the virtual ASEAN+3 Summit,... which brings South Korea, China and Japan together... along with ASEAN member states.
It is now time to turn the spirit of the ASEAN+3 Summit into action to overcome COVID-19 and achieve an inclusive recovery. For starters, it's crucial to strengthen health cooperation. As an axis of global vaccine production, South Korea will make its best efforts to ensure a fair and swift supply of vaccines.
He said South Korea has vowed to give 200-million dollars to COVAX... and reiterated his pledge to donate an additional 5 million U.S. dollars to the ASEAN COVID-19 response fund... on top of the 1 million dollars donated last year.
He added that South Korea will be expanding official development assistance,... to help ASEAN countries respond to digital transition and climate crisis.
Regarding the issues on the Korean Peninsula, he thanked other countries for supporting the peace process,... and called for continued support on a formal end to the Korean War.
During Wednesday's session, Moon also welcomed Japan's new Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who was also at the meeting.
Although done virtually, this was Moon's first time meeting Kishida... since he became the prime minister.
Following the ASEAN+3 session,... Moon is currently attending the East Asian Summit session involving 18 nations,... including the ASEAN members, South Korea, Japan, China, the U.S., Russia, Australia, India and New Zealand.
