Klopp 'chooses' Liverpool deal complete transfer , and £31.5m man is ideal Sadio Mané heir

“We will wait for him like a good wife” is a particular favourite of Jürgen Klopp when one of his players gets injured. He has said it about Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the past, and more recently expressed much the same sentiment about Harvey Elliott — and now it seems the mantra might extend beyond Liverpool and to potential transfer targets.

As it happens, it’s another attacking Harvey who Klopp is waiting for: Harvey Barnes. Per Fichajes, the Liverpool manager has retained an interest in the player throughout his long injury lay-off, and is now keen on a transfer once more with the Leicester City man back to full health.

It could be that the manager feels he has identified a Sadio Mané successor. Both he and Barnes are right-footed players who primarily play on the left — both can also play in a more central attacking midfield role when required, although this is admittedly not something with which Klopp has experimented very much in the case of Mané. Regardless, the versatility is certainly an extra feather in the cap of Barnes, who has even played as a central midfielder in the past.
