At least five people are dead and more than 40 injured after an SUV sped into a Christmas parade in suburban Milwaukee Sunday.
Waukesha Police Chief Daniel Thompson says some of those struck include children, but did not go into detail on how many, and will not be releasing the names of victims until further notification of next of kin.
On Monday a law enforcement official who asked to remain anonymous told the Associated Press that the 39-year-old suspect, who is currently in custody, may have been fleeing from a crime when they drove into the parade at a high rate of speed. Investigators are questioning someone about the incident, which is described as an altercation involving a knife.
The source cautioned that the investigation is still in its early stages.
