Guilty-Pleasure Films Of Tales From The Crypt - Explored - Gems Lost In The Sands Of Time!

HBO’s Tales from the Crypt is a popular, long-running TV series that aired from 1989 to 1996. It is an American anthology horror series, based on its namesake comics from the 1950s. These comics were produced by EC Comics and they were quite a phenomenon in pop culture before being produced by HBO. Its puppet host, The Crypt Keeper, also came to become a beloved figure from horror anthology and introduces every episode.
Thanks to the success of the series, it gained a silver screen adaptation. These spin-off films were produced by Universal Pictures. Their already consolidated position in the hearts of the people helped its first movie, 1995’s Demon Knight, achieve commercial success. Following this, Universal took two more films for the franchise under its belt - 1996’s Bordello of Blood, and 2002’s Ritual.
Ritual, however, was not produced as a spin-off under the Tales from the Crypt franchise but it is still considered to be an unofficial entry. For example, Sam Raimi’s Spiderman series, starring Tobey Maguire, is not under the MCU but non-comic readers can consider it as an unofficial addition, with the franchise having all the details about how Peter Parker got his powers.
With a trilogy to dive into, let’s talk about what goes down in each of these movies and break them down!
