Kids not being taught to love Australia 'a sad state of affairs'

Liberal Party Vice-President Teena McQueen says Education Minister Alan Tudge “makes a very good point” by pushing for a redraft of the national curriculum to include more patriotic learning.

Mr Tudge has warned the next generation of Australians will be unwilling to defend their country if called upon in a crisis.

Ms McQueen said with children being taught Australia is a “wretched place”, it would be “very hard” to get citizens to fight for the country, both physically and culturally.

“These changes to the curriculum, I hope he pushes forward and does even more drastic changes than what he’s suggested already,” she told Sky News host Cory Bernardi.

“It’s a sad state of affairs that young kids these days do not love the flag, do not love the country, everything that we hold dear, they’re being taught is a disgrace.”
