Trouble shooting with piercing probes on boats and automotive patching with liquid electrical tape

Using high quality Pomona Model 6405 wire piercing probe for common trouble shooting problems for automotive and on boats. I think these probes would be ideal in hard to access places below decks or where wires are somewhat protected from direct contact with salt water. However, liquid electrical tape is always recommended to seal the hold in the wire. This probe is an alternative to back probing. Back probing can be unreliable because the pins connection may be faulty or intermittent. Piercing can be quite a bit more reliable. I am going to keep a set of these probes on my sailboat. How many times do we have a bad splice and we need to read either end of a splice / butt connection. Lifepo4 trouble shooting often requires low voltage wire trouble shooting of engine harnesses.
