As a professing Christian, if you're not doing what God tells you to do, then you need to examine your heart and find out why. The Bible actually tells us to do that, because in 2 Corinthians 13:5 it says, "Examine your own selves, whether you are in the faith. Test your own selves. Or don’t you know about your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified" (WEB).
In regards to the "test" mentioned in 2 Corinthians 13:5. I believe that Matthew 7:15-20 is one of the test that God wants us to apply not only to identify “wolves in sheep’s clothing,” but to ourselves, as well, since God instructs us to make sure that we, “…bear fruit worthy of repentance” in Matthew 3:8.
I think that you'd agree that the other test would be the test of "Love," as explained in 1 John 4:7-8. If you know of another test, please let everyone know in the comments section.
